Friday Favorites: This and That

Friday, November 6, 2015

It's Friday!!!!

I'm linking up to share some favorites again with the girls over at.....

This week we've been hard at work adjusting to this new time and recovering from Halloween.  My favorites could not begin without flashing back to last Saturday.  Holy wonderland cuteness.  It was the sweetest Halloween.  You can catch up with our Halloween here.

Had I known I wouldn't get back home after taking Anna Claire to dance rehearsal that morning AND that we were going to have an oh so rare family photo snapped, I would have changed clothes.

I won't lie.  October kicked me in the rear.  And it was sooooo hot.  This last week has brought about cooler fall temps, fall leaves falling, some rainy low key days, and time to wear my favorite shoes.  I mean slippers.  But don't tell anyone else that because you might catch me in the car line wearing these. ;-)  I'm so excited to break these bad boys out.

 I just love imom.  And I just LOVE this download from them, "10 Ways to Pray for Your Daughter."  I've printed it out and placed on my refrigerator.  Don't worry boy moms, they have one for you here as well.  ;-)

I do realize there is another holiday between now and Christmas, but there is just something so incredibly special about this time of year.  I'm always a before Thanksgiving decorator.  I would seriously leave it up all year if people wouldn't talk about me.  ;-) I received my first red cup of the season at Starbucks this week, am working on my holiday to-do lists, and am so ready to deck the halls.  First up this weekend will be our Jesus tree.  It's the first up every season and probably my favorite of all trees.

{five-Prematurity Awareness Month}

November is Prematurity Awareness Month1 in 9 babies are born too soon each year.  Some 15 million worldwide are born too soon each year.  1 million of those will die before their first birthday.

 Our third daughter, Alli Grace, was 1 in 9.  Prematurity takes no prisonersIt doesn't care who you are, who you think you are, how much money you have or who your Daddy is.  I had two perfectly healthy full term babies before Alli.  No rhyme or reason.  No risk factors.  Nothing.  At roughly 17 weeks pregnant my body stopped nourishing and providing for Alli (that's an estimate, it wasn't found until my 20 week scan).  By God's grace we made it 10 more weeks to 27 weeks and 3 days.  Alli was born weighing only 14 ounces.  Ounces.  She spent 7 long months in the NICU and her premature birth has forever changed our family.  With a less than 5% chance of survival, it's such a gift to have had these years with her.  We don't take it lightly because we've seen too many not make it.  Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies under a year old.  Babies aren't meant to be born this early, this sick, or this small.  Premature babies, especially micropreemies like Alli, are not just smaller babies.  Many born that early and small will face lifelong health and or developmental problems.  Regardless, we're thankful for our little hero. Our little warrior.  We're thankful for We're thankful for these last almost 5 years that have been crazy hard, but full of so much joy.

I was abnormal in the sense that I had NO symptoms or risk factors.  Many pregnancies do.  If you are pregnant OR know someone who is, please share these risk symptoms and risk factors.

Have an incredible weekend!  Celebrate the healthy babies and kiddos in your life!
