What's Up Wednesday!

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

Hey y'all!  I'm excited to link up today for What's Up Wednesday with Shay, Sheaffer, & Mel!

{what we're eating this week}

Seafood.  Fresh seafood. Pizza. Steak.  Did I say seafood?  We're down in Rosemary Beach for vacation week so food is extra fun.  I blogged last week about our Beach Menu for this week and it has not disappointed.  Last night my brother and I made hands down some of the best gumbo I've ever eaten.  We actually had leftovers.  Speaking of...it's lunchtime.

We made it over to our favorite little pizza place, Pizza by the Sea, the other night and munched on some fine pizza and a big Cesar salad.   I was going to try and be good on vacay, but I digress.

It is vacation after all.

{what I'm reminiscing about}

As hard as I try to #slowthistraindown, it just keeps barreling down the tracks.  Just last night we were talking about how this kid will start kindergarten in just a few short weeks.  I.can't.even.deal right now.  She's still a baby for crying out loud.

And makes a pretty darn cute mermaid!

{what I'm loving}

Ummmm.  Da beach.  I desperately am missing that husband of mine and hate that my Mama's back is giving her such a time she couldn't handle the flight or a car ride down, but seriously.  This has been such a great week so farI've been able to love on all these girls and I'm pretty sure we've all needed this time.  We've had the best time riding bikes, playing in the sand, floating in the pool, and just being.  So good.

{what we've been up to}

A whole lot of the above.  It's blazin hot.  I mean it was hot back in Missouri, but I have forgotten what real humidity felt like.  But even back home, we have hit the water quite a bit.  We have to, it's so hot.  Anna Claire enjoyed a great day away with her friend Alexee and family at White Water.  Thanks Jamie for a good day!

{What I'm Dreading}

This goes both ways.  As much as I am looking forward to the results, I dread the heck out of Alli's stem cell treatment.  Sending your child in for surgery never gets easier.  Never.  Ever.  We leave here Saturday and head to Houston.  She goes in next Tuesday, surgery Wednesday, and we should be discharged on Thursday.

School.  I'm also dreading the beginning of school.  I love me some fall, but I am going to miss these kids every.single.day.

{What I'm working on}

Because I have all the time in the world (insert sarcasm) I jumped on board with our school districts PTO as fundraising chair.  I've worked over half the summer compiling a list of fundraising companies, interviewing, and just last week picked our company.  I'm excited about our new avenue in fundraising and am confident it will be welcomed and highly profitable.  I'm also super fired up to be involved more with the girls school.  As a former teacher, this gives me a teacher fix (somewhat).

{What I'm excited about}

As hard as it is for me to stomach that the kids are about to go back to school (and I'll have a kindergartner to boot), I can.not.wait for fall.  I had to fight the urge to haul out the pumpkins and fall decor before we left for the beach.  #noshame

I believe this fall is going to be a game changer for my little family.  In so many ways.

{What I'm watching/reading}

Ugh, y'all. I'm just getting caught up.  Life will never be the same.

Really??!

{What I'm listening to}

Bethel of course.  This was probably not one of my favorite songs when the album came out, but now that Anna Claire has discovered this song, it's a favorite.  Listening to her sweet voice worshiping to this song is just so.good.

{What I'm wearing}

My swimsuit and I'm still obsessed with my holy target shorts.  Seriously wearing them just.about.everyday.

{What I'm doing this weekend}

Saturday, after we all leave the beach we are headed to Birmingham to watch this boy play in a Lacrosse Tournament.  I'm crazy excited to see him play since it has been years!  That nephew of mine is dang good with the LAX.  After the tourney, we're Houston bound.

{What I'm looking forward to next month}

While I am seriously dreading the surgery aspect of next week.  I am praying that by this time next month we are beginning to see some positive changes in Alli's brain.  If you are praying with us, we're specifically praying for the areas of her brain to be receptive to these cells.  That her cognition grows by leaps and bounds and that she finally will start talking.

{What else is new}

I can't tell you or I would have to kill you!   No seriously though, I hope that I am able to reveal our little secret soon.  I'm a vault, but it's killing even me!

{What I will miss most about summer}

All of it.  Anna Claire has professed, on many occasions, that this is "the best summer ever."  And I'll second that stance.  It's crazy to think that it's almost over.  Seriously the fastest and best summer.  I absolutely adore spending my everyday with these kids and my heart already hurts thinking about both of my big ones being gone.

Happy Wednesday y'all!  I'm headed back to the beach.  I look forward to looking back through the other link ups!

XO,

Jackie

  1. I'll be praying for your daughter that her surgery goes well. As a Mom whose daughter has been several, I totally understand. It never gets easier.
